So much of what we do with friends involves eating. It's "let's get together for dinner or drinks" ... or "let's meet up at Starbucks". Even just going to the movies can be a gauntlet of food - I typically drink a Coke and have M&M's or Raisinets. That's probably the easiest to get around. I don't eat anything and I buy (or bring!) a water to the movies. I can work around Starbucks too. I just order a hot tea and can sip on that for quite a while.
For the most part I am avoiding a significant amount of socializing. However, that doesn't solve anything. There's a bigger issue at play here. I can't just go back to my life revolving around food. I need to change the way I think about eating.
I am searching for new things to do with friends that doesn't involve food (or shopping - another addiction). Here are a couple of things I am doing this week:
- Beyond the Canvas Paint & Wine Class - minus the wine of course!
- Stamp on Over Cardmaking Class
- Yoga - I'm trying Union St. Yoga's Gentle Yoga Class
I am also going to do some home improvement over the next few weeks, anything to keep my mind off food. Check out the photo below - I'm going to buy some 3D Wall Panels to put behind my bed. I'm going to use the pattern below, only I think I'm going to paint it grey. I'll let you know you it turns out.
